Steinway Grand Model L,  Serial #23914, 1924-1925, at San Antonio's Historic St Anthony Hotel.  Sold for $220,000 at Bonham's auction house in San Francisco, March 22, 2013. Acc0rding to San Antonio Express News, piano's early history is unclear.  It's said to have been designed for the Russian Embassy in Paris, France.  San Antonio railroad tycoon and St. Anthony owner Ralph W. Morrison - who, in 1938, bought the piano for $27,000 (about $441,000 in today's money) - always said he purchased it from the Soviet Embassy in Washington, DC.  but no documentation exists to substantiate either of these claims.
